Managing the water-energy-food-climate nexus

CIPT has conceptualized water-energy-agriculture and livelihood security (WEALS) nexus to understand the complex and dynamic interrelationships between water-energy and agriculture and draw references to manage our limited natural resources sustainability. The nexus concept establishes a need to develop a model for optimal utilization of resources and achieving water sustainability under changing climate within the region. The model mainly depends on the nexus approach which views the water, energy and agriculture sectors as not being separate but being a complex and inextricably entwined. Thus, the approach would promote climate change adaptation and water sustainability while improving the farmer’s livelihood and food security.
